Orthopaedics branch of Johnson and Johnson MedTech, DePuy Synthes, has announced that their surgical robotics system VELYS active has received 501k clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In collaboration with eCential Robotics, the dual-use robotics and standalone navigation platform is designed for use in planning and instrumenting spinal fusion procedures in the thoracolumbar, cervical and sacroiliac spine.
